Institutional Partner - Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan

Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids “MW4K” of Michigan is a local, grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides wigs and support services to 250+ children annually, ages 3 to 18 at no charge, referred by 8 hospitals throughout the state of Michigan. They assist children experiencing hair loss due to any medical condition, including cancer. Together, with a multi-disciplinary team, MW4K helps children heal emotionally, socially, and psychologically from the side effects of their health challenge. MW4K is now hosting the VR 4 Kids program pilot.

Founded in 2003 by CEO, Maggie Varney, MW4K has helped over 5,200 Michigan children in need. Children receive a wig and support services (classes, social activities, field trips & counseling) at no cost to them or their families in a non-medical setting.

Through the support and guidance of VRforHealth, the organization expanded its programming in 2023 to include the VR 4 Kids Program Pilot, incorporating best-fit, quality, immersive or virtual reality solutions, for improved wellness of its recipients as they journey through their health challenges. More information to come on the participating partners.
